Who Can Benefit from Coaching?

Coaching is a great option for individuals who want to improve their performance in a specific area of their life. Whether it's in their career, relationships, or personal development, coaching is not ‘just help with goal setting’. Coaching can help individuals set clear goals and develop a plan to achieve them, but it is more accurately described as ‘evoking awareness’. There is already a level of resilience, and well-being in order to cope with this new awareness.

Coaching using Positive Psychology & well-being research and methods entails focusing on our strengths, the things we enjoy, and ways to increase our well-being. Action steps can be carved toward goal-oriented outcomes, using education, accountability, and intrinsic reward.

Shani holds a BA in Counselling (Coaching), a Diploma in Positive Psychology & Well-being, and is a PCC level Coach with the International Coaching Federation. Her background is in health, fitness, and well-being, and has extensive experience working with body image issues, lifestyle change, and performance.

PERMA is the theoretical model coined by one of the fathers of Positive Psychology Dr Martin Seligman. PERMA stands for Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Achievement. The research that backs this model shows that for human beings to flourish we must adequately feel positive emotions, enough of the time, we must engage and be engaged in our lives and our roles in life, have relationships that are strong and supportive, our lives and the actions we take in life must have a sense of meaning to us and we must feel like we can or are achieving something.

The well-being aspect of Positive Psychology is holistic in nature. It represents not only our mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing but our physical well-being as well, including looking after our health with adequate nutrition, exercise, sleep, and hydration.

Coaching Due to its nature of being goal-oriented, accountability is important. A single session may evoke awareness and insights but I would recommend a block (4 or more sessions) to make traction in your goals.

All new clients require an initial assessment to ensure coaching is the right modality for you. Fees will be adjusted after the initial assessment.
